At the end of WWII, 60 minutes of raw film was discovered intact in an East German archive. Shot by the Nazis in Warsaw in May 1942, and labeled simply “Das Ghetto,” this footage quickly became a valuable resource for historians seeking an authentic record of the Warsaw Ghetto.

CiVL and Moving Picture Institute are collaborating to celebrate filmmakers who use their craft to bring awareness to big issues facing humanity. This is a season for gratitude, forgiveness, and reflection. We decided to commit this next week to films about criminal justice reform.

Infraction, by Timothy Blackwood, is a film based on the true story of Terrance Lewis who spent 21 years in prison on a wrongful conviction before he was exonerated and released in 2019. He founded The Liberation Foundation dedicated to wrongful conviction claims and supporting those preparing to return home.
